sexual violation (n) any form of non-consensual, sexual advance; sexual harassment or sexual assault
Sexual violation is a term defined as the sexual advances by one party against another, which cross personal boundaries of the second party. Sexual violation is a general term which covers the full spectrum of violations, from sexual harassment to sexual assault and violence. It’s important to note that creating a general term does not equate the range of experiences which fall into it. Rather, by using a general term we can more easily refer to these violations on a whole, as the result of the deeper systemic problems in our society (such as enforced gender roles and sexism). As we distill the root causes and consider different approaches to a solving this endemic and global problem, we must also create new language to articulate our ideas.

Our Vision
A future without sexual violation.
We see a time where sexual violation towards women is no longer a leading social issue. Women have grown far too accustomed to fighting or ignoring sexism, sexual harassment, and sexual assault. These are not and should not be considered as a part of daily life.
Men and women today want to change that, and we're helping make it happen.
Our Mission
Empathy breeds change.
We believe that by empathizing with the experience of both sexes people can create meaningful social change towards the end of sexual violation.
Phoenix Risen’s Empathy Workshops have been built around this core belief. Empathy Workshops create a structure and space for men and women to investigate themselves, communicate with others, and design solutions to issues surrounding sexism and sexual violation.
Our team, our partners, and our Workshop Warriors are spreading these workshops globally today. Join us on our mission.
